The Foundations of Agile Legal Practice training is a two day course for legal practitioners to gain the core Agile knowledge for improving all elements of law practice. We use a combination of group instruction and experiential learning so that students can gain first-hand experience with Agile tools. While we will touch on tools and software, our methods are specifically designed to work within existing practices without adopting new technology or systems.

Over the two days you will learn both the mechanics and philosophies of Agile methods. From its roots in Lean Manufacturing to its evolution in the software industry, you’ll understand why Agile is uniquely suited to improving the quality and efficiency of knowledge work. Students get first-hand experience with using a kanban board to visually manage complex work, learn how to measure and monitor the flow of work through your practice (and understand why flow is the single most powerful metric for process improvement), and how to develop a targeted communication strategy that will leave clients and team-members alike feeling more engaged.

Who Should Attend

The Foundations of Agile Legal Practice course is the perfect introduction to modern methods for managing complex work. The ideal participant is a lawyer or legal team member who works on a team of 2-12 people, either within an independent firm, a practice group within a larger firm, or an in-house or government legal department.

Although this definition excludes true solo practitioners, solos who outsource parts of their practice or who are looking to add team members in the near future would also benefit.
